What to have ready for your tax appointment
Bring these to the office if you're local, or have them ready to send if we're meeting virtually.
- Photo ID for you and your spouse, if filing jointly
- Social Security cards for everyone on the return, including children
- W-2s from every job, and any 1099 forms (contract work, bank interest, Social Security, unemployment)
- Last year's tax return, if you have it
- Records of other income and expenses — business income, childcare costs, tuition, mortgage interest
- Bank account and routing numbers if you want direct deposit
- Any letters from the IRS or the state — don't ignore them, bring them
